The months during winter season are considered the most convenient for navigation in Gulf Sea and Arabian Sea toward the Red Sea, due to the mild climate and the North-East monsoon winds. Dhows have always used the winds from summer or winter monsoon to sails toward Africa or India.
On her way to Europe, Nizwa will sail downwind to Yemen and Djibouti along the Omani coast, and up to Port Soudan. Then, Nizwa will have to sail close to the wind for the 2nd half North of the Red Sea. Winds blow from North all year along in these latitudes.
